Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugu Ukwu, arrested a suspected cultist and recovered a firearm, ammunition, and a vehicle during a patrol on the evening of 16th October 2025.
The incident occurred along Ukpomili–Ifitedunu Road in Dunukofia Local Government Area, where the operatives intercepted a black Lexus car with registration number RSH 613 AZ, driven by Chiemerie Udeh, 22 years old. A thorough search of the vehicle and the suspect led to the discovery of one locally made pistol and five rounds of live ammunition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle may have been stolen and was en route for a planned rivalry cult attack. The suspect was immediately arrested, and the firearm, ammunition, and vehicle were taken into custody for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustaining efforts against cultism and violent crimes across the state.
This statement was made known by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka, on 17th October 2025.
