A tragic incident in Wailo town, Ganjuwa Local Government Area, Bauchi State, has left a 7-year-old girl, Rukayya Muhammad, permanently blind after her older brother, Auwalu Muhammad, allegedly removed both her eyes in a failed money ritual.
The father of the children stated that Auwalu lured Rukayya into the bush before committing the horrific act in a desperate attempt to gain wealth.
Rukayya was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where she received urgent medical care. However, Dr. Shahir Umar Bello, an eye specialist at the hospital, confirmed that the young girl will never regain her eyesight.
Authorities are expected to investigate the incident, while the community reels from the shocking act.
