President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved sweeping changes in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces as part of efforts to reinforce the nation’s security architecture and enhance operational efficiency.
In the newly announced appointments, General Olufemi Oluyede becomes the Chief of Defence Staff, while Major-General W. Shaibu has been named the Chief of Army Staff. Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke takes over as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes the position of Chief of Naval Staff.
The President also confirmed that Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye will continue in his current role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
President Tinubu expressed deep appreciation to General Christopher Musa and the outgoing Service Chiefs for their “selfless service and dedicated leadership,” acknowledging their contributions to the stability and security of the nation.
He charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to demonstrate renewed professionalism, vigilance, and unity as they lead the Armed Forces in addressing evolving security challenges across the country.
“Their duty is to serve Nigeria with honour and protect its people with courage,” President Tinubu emphasized, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to a stronger, more adaptive national security framework.
