The First Lady of Nigeria and Chairperson of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has commissioned a state-of-the-art Digital Learning Centre at the Women Development Centre, Ministry of Women Affairs, Umuahia, marking a major milestone in Abia State’s participation in the federal government’s Social Investment Programme.
Represented by Mrs. Adaeze Chidera Emetu, wife of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Senator Tinubu highlighted the project’s potential to transform the lives of women and girls through digital empowerment. She described the facility as a beacon of opportunity designed to equip women with essential technological skills for education, innovation, and financial independence.
“This facility’s potential to empower women and girls is truly remarkable. By equipping them with digital skills, we can enhance their education, foster self-reliance, and open doors to global economic opportunities — ultimately transforming their lives and families,” Mrs. Emetu stated on behalf of the First Lady.
The initiative, driven by RHI in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), underscores the government’s renewed commitment to bridging the digital divide and promoting inclusive growth among women and youth.
Senator Tinubu also expressed her appreciation to Abia State’s leadership for embracing the programme and reaffirmed her dedication to fostering nationwide partnerships that strengthen women’s roles in economic and technological advancement.
“We extend heartfelt appreciation to the First Lady of Nigeria for this visionary initiative and robust partnership with NITDA, poised to uplift our women and girls,” Mrs. Emetu added.
The Digital Learning Centre is expected to serve as a hub for training in information technology, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation — aligning with the Renewed Hope Initiative’s goal of empowering communities through education and skill development.
