The Bank of Agriculture (BOA) has partnered with the International Organization for Migration (IOM/UN Migration) to launch a $200 million Agriculture and Livelihood Fund, aimed at empowering displaced Nigerians and fostering economic inclusion across the country.
The initiative targets the nation’s over 3.8 million internally displaced persons (IDPs), providing opportunities that go beyond traditional humanitarian aid. Through the fund, participants will gain access to agriculture-based programs, skills development, and livelihood support, ensuring sustainable economic empowerment for displaced communities.
Officials from both organizations highlighted that the collaboration seeks to unlock long-term opportunities, allowing beneficiaries to participate actively in the economy while building resilience and self-reliance.
This landmark partnership underscores a growing focus on transforming humanitarian interventions into structured development initiatives, leveraging financial resources to create meaningful, measurable impact for vulnerable populations.
The fund is expected to support agricultural production, vocational training, and entrepreneurial ventures, providing displaced Nigerians with tools to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to local economies.
