Troops of the 2 Battalion, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, arrested Ibrahim Adamu, a 32-year-old suspected bandit, during a snap roadblock operation in the Damari axis of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. Announced on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the operation took place on the previous Thursday at about 6:04 p.m., underscoring the military’s growing capacity for intelligence-led tactical interventions.
The arrest occurred when troops flagged down a suspect riding a motorcycle. A thorough search led to the immediate recovery of an AK-47 rifle magazine, three mobile phones, Indian hemp, and other personal effects from the suspect.
The real shock came when investigators gained access to the suspect's phone. They discovered photographs showing Adamu dressed in a military-style camouflage uniform. He was seen proudly brandishing a PKT machine gun alongside other suspected bandits. Security sources have described the digital evidence as "highly significant" for an ongoing forensic analysis.
The suspect has been transferred to the battalion headquarters for further investigation and is currently in military custody. Officials have noted that security in the general area remains calm but highly unpredictable, and surveillance has been significantly strengthened across the axis.
This victory sends a clear signal that the Nigerian Army is committed to sustaining aggressive operations against all forms of insecurity, denying criminal elements any freedom of action in the North-West and across the country. The troops deserve our highest appreciation, and we hope for continued strength and protection for our security forces.
