The Ekiti State Police Command has dismissed as false and mischievous a viral social media report alleging that a bus conveying passengers from Ado-Ekiti was kidnapped along the Aramoko-Ekiti road on Sunday, May 31, 2026. In a press release issued on Monday, June 1, 2026, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, stated that upon receiving the disturbing information, intelligence and tactical operatives were immediately deployed to the axis to verify its authenticity. “It was then gathered that the alarm was false, created and spread by criminally minded individuals to cause unnecessary panic and discredit the efforts of the security agencies in the State as well as the government in ensuring adequate safety for the citizens,” the statement read.
The Command disclosed that it has observed an intentional and coordinated plan by some individuals to start creating and spreading false alarms about bandit attacks, kidnapping and other crimes in the state.
