The Executive Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has issued a public security advisory following reports of the arrival of certain groups of persons into parts of the communities, urging residents to remain vigilant but strongly advising against taking the law into their own hands. The statement, released on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, comes amid rising national security concerns and recent incidents of mob action across the country.

In the advisory addressed to residents, Olowa stated that his administration has taken the concerns seriously and immediately engaged relevant security agencies. He assured that security authorities at both state and local levels are fully aware of the situation and are actively monitoring developments, with necessary intelligence and security measures being implemented to ensure the continued peace and stability of the communities.

“At a time when security concerns remain a national challenge, it is important that we remain vigilant and support lawful efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property,” Olowa said. He encouraged residents to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities through the appropriate channels but strongly advised against harassment, intimidation, profiling, or any form of unlawful treatment of individuals or groups. “Security matters are best handled by the appropriate authorities, who have the legal mandate and capacity to do so,” he added.

The chairman urged residents to remain calm, go about their lawful activities, and continue to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and lawful conduct that define Ibeju Lekki. He reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to the safety and security of all residents and pledged to keep the community safe, peaceful, and secure.

The advisory reflects growing concerns in Lagos’s coastal communities over potential infiltration by criminal elements, but the chairman’s message emphasised due process and collaboration with law enforcement rather than self-help.
