Two commercial tricycles collided head‑on Monday evening along Haske Road near the Lamingo Golf Club in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, leaving one passenger dead and three others injured. The crash happened at about 5 p.m. when one of the Keke Napep operators swerved to avoid a pothole and rammed into the oncoming tricycle. An eyewitness, Mr. Joseph Haruna, told The Punch that the impact was so heavy that one passenger died on the spot while the other three occupants sustained varying degrees of injury. Sympathisers and emergency responders quickly took the injured victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A second witness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the accident as “tragic” and called on the authorities to urgently repair the deteriorating road. “The potholes along this road pose a serious danger to motorists and other road users,” he said. “Something needs to be done before more lives are lost.” The crash temporarily disrupted traffic along the Haske Road axis as commuters and residents gathered at the scene.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had not issued an official statement by the time of this report. Its Public Education Officer in Plateau State, Route Commander Peter Longsan, said he would verify the details and get back to The Punch, but he had yet to do so. The Plateau State Police Command also remained silent on the incident.
