The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 32‑year‑old guest house manager, Akinsanmi Olawale, for alleged involvement in a N12.5 million money conversion fraud. The suspect was taken into custody on May 18, 2026, following a formal complaint lodged by the proprietor of Remmy Guest House, Alagbaka, Akure.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Daniel Aidamenbor, the case was reported at the NSCDC headquarters by Mrs Linda John, owner of the facility. She alleged that Olawale, an employee of the establishment, engaged in fraudulent activities that led to substantial financial losses. Upon receiving the complaint, NSCDC operatives launched an investigation, which revealed that the suspect, who served as the manager, could not account for proceeds generated from the business over a two‑year period spanning 2024 to 2026.
Further inquiries uncovered that Olawale allegedly manipulated and falsified the guest house’s financial records by presenting inaccurate accounts designed to conceal the misappropriation of funds. The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation and is cooperating with investigators. He will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation, in line with the corps’ zero‑tolerance policy towards crime and criminality.
The arrest underscores the NSCDC’s ongoing efforts to combat financial fraud and protect citizens from economic sabotage. The command has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
