One Killed, Another Injured in Bandit Attack Along Lade–Gbangede Road in Kwara State

One person has been killed and another injured following a bandit attack along the Lade–Gbangede Road in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State on Friday evening, June 5, 2026.

The incident occurred along the rural road connecting Lade and Gbangede communities within Patigi LGA. Local sources confirmed that armed men attacked individuals travelling along the route, resulting in one fatality and one person sustaining injuries.

Residents in the area reported that the injured victim was taken for medical treatment, while the deceased was removed from the scene. The identities of both victims had not been officially released as of the time of reporting.

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed awareness of the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.

Security personnel were deployed to the area following reports of the attack. However, by the time officers arrived, the attackers had already left the scene.

The Lade–Gbangede axis in Patigi Local Government Area is a rural route used by residents and traders connecting surrounding communities within Kwara North. The area falls under routine police monitoring, although specific deployment levels at the time of the incident were not disclosed by authorities.

As of June 6, 2026, police authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with the attack. Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
