The National Examinations Council has alerted the public to the existence of fake online portals fraudulently designed to recruit examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal. The fake portals have been requesting unsuspecting teachers to log in with their academic credentials after making unspecified payments.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the Council’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, clarified that NECO does not request any payment from teachers applying to serve as examination supervisors. He stated that in line with the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria, and to strengthen the examination supervision mechanism, NECO has transitioned from the analogue mode of recruiting supervisors and assistant supervisors to a fully electronic process.

Consequently, all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are not less than 30 years of age and are interested in serving as supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal should apply only on the official NECO website: supervisor.neco.gov.ng. The Council emphasised that the supervisor recruitment on its website is fully automated and that no third party is required. It said the new recruitment system will prevent fraud, curb examination malpractice, and enhance fairness and credibility in the selection process.

NECO also disclosed that no fewer than 22,000 supervisors will be recruited to ensure a seamless conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal, which is scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026. The Council urged members of the public to disregard any recruitment portal other than its official website and to report any suspicious platforms to the appropriate authorities.
