The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers, Abdulhamid Salihu and Bello Yahaya, who have been on the command's wanted list for over a year. The arrests, carried out under the special security initiative Operation Sanity Mubi, followed a robbery incident in the early hours of June 10, 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, June 12, 2026, the command's spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that the suspects, alongside two accomplices currently at large, attacked one Mustapha Ali at Unguwar Kara in Mubi. The assailants inflicted injuries on the victim and dispossessed him of cash and other valuables. Through sustained intelligence-led operations, police operatives attached to Mubi South and Mubi North tracked and apprehended the suspects. The suspects have been identified as Abdulhamid Salihu, also known as Baban Anty, and Bello Yahaya, also known as Baban Yambiyu.

The statement disclosed that exhibits recovered include stolen mobile phones, jewellery, handbags, travelling bags, and the weapons allegedly used in committing the crime. While investigation is ongoing, efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining fleeing suspects and bring them to justice. The Adamawa State Police Command remains committed to sustaining the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.

The two suspects had reportedly been on the command’s wanted list due to their alleged involvement in a series of armed robbery activities that posed security concerns within Mubi, a key commercial hub in northern Adamawa State. Preliminary investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the suspects’ alleged criminal activities, including possible links to other robbery incidents within and beyond the locality.

The Adamawa State Police Command urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and maintaining peace across communities. Police officials further assured the public that investigations would continue and that any individuals found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
