The 17 farmers killed in a deadly bandit attack in Goran Namaye community, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, have been laid to rest following Islamic funeral rites.
The victims were buried after they were killed on Friday, June 12, 2026, when armed bandits reportedly stormed farmlands in the community and opened fire on farmers carrying out their daily activities.
The attack, which occurred on Nigeria’s Democracy Day, also left several people injured, while an unspecified number of residents were reportedly abducted during the assault.
The Chairman of Maradun Local Government Area, Sanusi Ahmed Dosara, confirmed the incident, describing the killings as tragic and a painful reminder of the persistent insecurity facing rural communities in the state.
