The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 25 foreign nationals for illegal entry into Nigeria following a swift response to a kidnapping report in the Ikorodu area. The suspects, comprising 19 Chadians and six Cameroonians, were apprehended on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, by operatives of the Tactical Creek Sweeper Squad based in Ijede, Ikorodu.

According to a report by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the arrest followed a complaint lodged by Konga Delphine, a Cameroonian national, who reported a case of kidnapping. The operatives swiftly mobilised to the location, leading to the arrest of the foreign nationals.

During preliminary investigations, the Chadian suspects claimed they were in Nigeria to attend an evangelical crusade organised by a “big” church, the name of which was withheld. The Cameroonians, on the other hand, said they were in the country for network marketing activities.

Security sources disclosed that the suspects were completely unable to provide any valid travel or residency documentation upon profiling. They are currently in police custody while investigations continue.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about illegal immigration and the activities of foreign nationals in Nigeria. The police have not yet disclosed whether the suspects will be charged or deported.
