The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially opened its online portal for the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the Osun State off-cycle governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026. The commission announced the commencement of the application process in a notice posted on its official X handle on Monday, June 29, 2026.

According to the commission, the INECPRES portal, which opened on Saturday, June 27, 2026, has been designated for the registration of eligible ad hoc personnel for the election. The portal will automatically shut down at midnight on Saturday, July 18, 2026, and late applications will not be considered.

INEC is inviting applications from suitable, qualified, and interested candidates for various ad hoc positions, including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers, and Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECHs).

For Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs): Eligible applicants include officers on Grade Levels 12 to 14 in the Federal Public Service and Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). Priority will be given to qualified personnel from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), and National Population Commission (NPC). Unengaged INEC staff on Grade Levels 8 to 14 may also apply.

For Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers: Serving corps members, former corps members who completed their national service between 2024 and 2026, penultimate-year students of federal tertiary institutions, and permanent federal MDA staff on Grade Levels 7 to 10 with OND or NCE qualifications are eligible to apply.

For RAC Managers: Heads of schools or staff of institutions designated as Registration Area Centres will serve in this capacity.

For Registration Area Technical Support Staff: Suitable ICT personnel within the commission who are not assigned other election duties will be recruited.

INEC has warned prospective applicants against partisan political activities, stressing that applicants must not be members of any political party or have demonstrated or expressed support for any political party or candidate.

Interested and qualified Nigerians are advised to complete their registration on the INECPRES portal at pres.inecnigeria.org before the July 18 deadline.

The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, 2026.
