Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued six additional abducted persons, comprising four adults and two infants, during sustained search and rescue operations in Borno State, the military announced on Saturday. The victims were rescued at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area following coordinated air and ground operations backed by credible intelligence.

According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the rescued victims were among those abducted by terrorists in Mussa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area, in May. The military said the victims had been evacuated to a secure location, where they are receiving medical attention and psychosocial care ahead of their reunification with their families. Relief materials and other essential items have also been provided to support their recovery after their time in captivity.

The military described the rescue as another breakthrough in the ongoing operation to recover abducted students of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, and other victims held by terrorists in the North-East. During the operation, troops also recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition allegedly abandoned by fleeing insurgents while exploiting their withdrawal routes. The recovery reflected the sustained pressure being mounted on terrorist groups operating in the region.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to continuing search and rescue efforts until all remaining abducted persons are safely recovered. The military also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies while cautioning against the spread of unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic.

The latest rescue comes amid intensified military operations in the North-East, where troops have continued to pursue fleeing terrorists, maintaining relentless pressure along their withdrawal routes and denying them freedom of action. The military said the successful operation underscores the growing effectiveness of coordinated efforts involving the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Borno State Government, other security agencies and auxiliary forces working together to combat terrorism and rescue victims.
