Veteran Nollywood actor Rykardo Agbor has stirred deep emotions across social media after revealing that he and his wife waited 18 agonising years before they were blessed with children, a period of faith, patience, and unwavering commitment that he says would have broken many other men. In a candid interview with AfricanAList that went viral on Monday, 6 July 2026, the 53-year-old actor, who hails from Delta State but has built a thriving career in the Yoruba movie industry, shared the deeply personal story of his marriage and the long wait for parenthood. The revelation has drawn widespread admiration from fans and fellow actors, with many celebrating the couple for overcoming years of childlessness through resilience and faith.

Agbor, who married his wife at the age of 26, said he had always wanted twins and had prayed specifically for that blessing. "It took 18 years for me to have the twins. And I waited. God knows, 18 years and they are 14 now, so I told God I wanted twins. So while that wait was on, if it were someone else, he would cross. But at the end of the day, I have twins. I have a boy and a girl. I asked God what I wanted," he said. The actor, who is the father of Daniel and Daniela, now 14 years old, said his faith never wavered during the difficult years, and he remained patient and faithful to his wife throughout the ordeal.

In the interview, Agbor also spoke about the importance of love and commitment in his marriage, revealing that he married a woman from a different tribe despite the potential for strife. "I wanted to get married to a particular lady; I have married her regardless of where she is from. She is not from my tribe. So ordinarily, we were supposed to have strife; no, it was very fair," he said. The actor, who has been married for over 20 years, has previously stated in a 2018 interview that he had been married for over 20 years. He has also publicly professed his admiration for his family, once stating: "In my 19 years of marriage I can't believe I have never cheated on my wife".

When asked about the toughest moment in his life, Agbor did not hesitate, revealing that it was the death of his mother. According to the actor, his mother died right in his arms as he was moving her from the hospital after her health failed to improve despite treatment. The actor's openness about his personal struggles has resonated deeply with fans, many of whom have taken to social media to celebrate his journey and pray for similar blessings. Comments such as "Congratulations Baba ibeji I need twins as well oh lord" and "God will protect the babies in Jesus name" have flooded the actor's social media pages.

Agbor's journey to stardom is itself a story of perseverance against the odds. Born on 4 February 1973 in Lagos State, he grew up as the only son among four children. He attended Stadium High School in Surulere and later studied Communication and Language Arts at the University of Ibadan. His father initially opposed his decision to pursue acting, describing it as a waste of time. However, Agbor persisted and has since starred in over 100 Nollywood and Yoruba movies, including Visa to Hell, King of Shitta, Badcop, and Gold Statue. He began his professional acting career in 1992 and rose to fame through his versatility in both English and Yoruba films.

The actor, who currently resides in Surulere, Lagos, has maintained a relatively scandal-free reputation in an industry often plagued by controversies. He has credited his grounded nature and strong family values for keeping him focused. His recent revelation about his 18-year wait for children has added a new layer of depth to his public persona, showing a man of immense patience and faith who never gave up on his dream of fatherhood. For Agbor, the wait was long, but the reward was worth it. As he put it in a 2018 interview: "I felt a total joy from within when I became a father. I don't know how else to explain it, but the feeling was awesome". Today, with his twins now 14 years old, the actor's story serves as a powerful testament to the enduring power of faith, patience, and love in the face of life's most difficult trials.
