The lawyer representing controversial social media personality and disc jockey Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has made an emotional public appeal to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to forgive his client following his arrest over a viral video containing threatening remarks. In a video shared online on Thursday, July 9, 2026, the lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, confirmed that DJ Chicken was arrested in Ikeja, Lagos, and is currently in the custody of security authorities, adding that he believes the Department of State Services (DSS) is involved in the matter.

Stephen stated that his client was taken into custody at the Ikeja Police Headquarters. He linked the arrest directly to a video DJ Chicken recently shared online, in which he made controversial remarks about Seyi Tinubu. In the viral video, DJ Chicken was heard saying in Yoruba: "Tinubu, you can't win the election. If you win, I will kill Seyi Tinubu. I won't say more than that". The clip quickly drew public backlash, prompting the entertainer to post another video apologising, explaining that the initial clip was intended to generate engagement and boost his earnings as a content creator.

In his appeal, Stephen did not deny his client's wrongdoing. He acknowledged that DJ Chicken had made a serious mistake but pleaded for mercy, citing the entertainer's mental health struggles. Describing DJ Chicken as his personal rehabilitation project, the lawyer made a direct appeal to Seyi Tinubu, the President, and anyone with access to the Presidency. He further stated that his client had made a serious error and pleaded for forgiveness. In a moment of apparent resignation, the lawyer admitted that the evidence against his client was overwhelming and expressed frustration and uncertainty about what steps to take next.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the Department of State Services had issued an official statement confirming the arrest or providing details about the case. The lawyer's claims remain unverified by authorities. DJ Chicken, known for his outspoken and controversial online content, has built a significant following on social media platforms. His latest arrest comes amid growing concerns over the use of social media to make inflammatory statements about public figures, particularly as the country gears up for the 2027 general elections. The case has reignited debates about the limits of free expression online, the regulation of social media content, and the consequences of threatening language against public officials and their families.
