The Anambra State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Pauline Ojisua, has announced the fate of the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream I corps members, revealing that while 933 were formally discharged after successfully completing their mandatory one-year national service, nine will repeat their service year for absconding from the exercise. Five others, however, received a significant reward as they were retained by their various employers for outstanding performance.
Mrs Ojisua made the disclosure on Thursday, 9 July 2026, during the presentation of Certificates of National Service (CNS) to the successful corps members at the Ihiala Local Government Council Secretariat. The certificate issuance ceremony was held simultaneously across all 21 local government areas of the state.
The NYSC coordinator explained that nine corps members would repeat their entire service year in line with the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Laws for absconding from the mandatory national service. Additionally, two corps members had their service year extended on disciplinary grounds.
On a positive note, Mrs Ojisua said five corps members were retained by their various employers due to their outstanding performance during the service year, securing automatic employment. She congratulated the outgoing corps members on the successful completion of their service year and charged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the NYSC scheme and Nigeria.
She urged the corps members to embrace self-reliance by putting the entrepreneurial and vocational skills acquired during the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme into practice, rather than waiting endlessly for white-collar jobs. The coordinator encouraged them to remain productive by engaging in meaningful ventures capable of creating sustainable livelihoods and contributing to national development.
Mrs Ojisua also advised the discharged corps members to join the NYSC Foundation to sustain their relationship with the scheme and continue supporting its objectives. She wished them a journey of mercies and God's protection as they returned to their various destinations to begin a new phase of their lives.
