The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through its Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another major operational success, destroying a terrorist enclave and neutralising several insurgents during precision airstrikes in Borno State, according to a statement issued on Saturday, 11 July 2026, by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame. The operation, conducted on Friday, 10 July 2026, targeted a terrorist hideout at Yaganari in the Gezuwa general area, following credible intelligence reports indicating renewed militant activities and a concentration of fighters in the region.
Ejodame explained that the Air Component first conducted intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions to verify the information, which confirmed the presence of terrorist structures and logistics hubs. The confirmed targets were subsequently engaged in a series of precision strikes, leading to the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the neutralisation of several insurgents. The successful operation further underscores the growing pressure being mounted on terrorist elements, whose freedom of movement and ability to regroup continue to be severely degraded by sustained air offensives.
Reacting to the success of the operation, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the personnel involved for their professionalism and commitment. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force's determination to sustain aggressive air operations in collaboration with ground troops until terrorist groups are completely dismantled. “The Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver decisive air power in concert with surface forces to hunt down, disrupt and destroy terrorist elements wherever they may seek refuge,” Aneke said. “We remain committed to ensuring that terrorists have no safe haven and no opportunity to recover their capabilities.” The Air Chief also maintained that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remained focused on consolidating the gains already recorded in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign across the country, and that sustained joint military operations would continue to deny terrorist groups the ability to regroup, rebuild their logistics networks or threaten communities.
The latest airstrike is part of intensified NAF operations in the North-East under Operation HADIN KAI, which has increasingly relied on intelligence-led air interdictions to dismantle terrorist logistics and command structures. Military authorities have described the operation as another significant success in the ongoing campaign against insurgents, reinforcing the message that terrorist groups will have no safe haven to recover their capabilities. As the Nigerian military continues its offensive, the pressure on terrorist elements across the North-East is expected to intensify, with the NAF vowing to sustain its relentless pursuit of insurgents until lasting peace is restored to the region.
