The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that it will commence the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards to eligible voters in Osun State on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, ahead of the state's governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. The exercise will run until Friday, August 7, 2026, and is open to persons who registered, applied for transfer of registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
According to a statement by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Oluwatoyin Babalola, the distribution will begin at the 332 Registration Areas across the state from Wednesday, July 22, to Tuesday, July 28, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, including weekends. The exercise will subsequently continue at INEC Local Government Area offices from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, August 7, also from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
The commission reminded voters that PVC collection is strictly personal, stressing that collection by proxy is prohibited and constitutes an offence under the law. INEC urged all eligible voters to collect their PVCs within the stipulated period, noting that the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid means of accreditation for voting on election day.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent governorship election in Osun State.
