A combined team of security operatives successfully repelled an attempted attack on Gwaigwaye village in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State on the night of July 19, 2026. Troops of the 17 Brigade, officers from the Makera Divisional Police Headquarters, and local vigilantes mobilised swiftly after receiving intelligence on the movement of suspected bandits in the area. In that incident, police operatives responded with superior firepower, forcing the suspects to flee and recovering eight rustled cows. The police also confirmed that in another operation, a kidnapped victim was rescued and 15 rustled cattle were recovered.
