Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, has ignited a fresh wave of public outrage and debate after a video surfaced showing him performing a song about "unnecessary pregnancy" during a stage performance, days after a woman publicly alleged that he abandoned her and their 12-year-old daughter. The controversy, which has dominated social media conversations since the weekend, began when a woman identified as Ogechi Eleana granted a viral interview to Feel Right News TV, where she detailed a seven-year relationship with the singer and claimed he refused to take responsibility for their child, Azizat. KWAM 1's response, delivered not through a direct statement but through a pointed lyrical performance at the 10th coronation anniversary of the Onikate of Ikate, Oba Lateef Adams, has been widely interpreted as a dismissive and mocking reply to the allegations.
According to Eleana, a graduate of Lagos State University, she worked as KWAM 1's manicurist and pedicurist before their relationship developed. She claimed they dated for more than seven years, during which she became pregnant with Azizat. She alleged that when she informed the Fuji singer about the pregnancy, he urged her to terminate it and promised to send money through one of his aides for the procedure, but the money never arrived. Eleana further alleged that after she decided to keep the pregnancy, the singer stopped communicating with her. She recounted seeking intervention from the late Kabiru Agbabiaka, who allegedly contacted KWAM 1 on her behalf while they were at a palace, but the singer reportedly denied the claims. Eleana also claimed she later visited the singer's late mother, who became emotional after seeing the child, remarking on the girl's striking resemblance to the musician.
Speaking during the same interview, 12-year-old Azizat alleged that she last saw the Fuji star on July 30, 2025, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, where he reportedly denied knowing them. She made a desperate appeal to the singer for financial support, revealing that she had been forced to drop out of school due to financial hardship. "I heard that my father is a billionaire, if not a trillionaire. I was told that he has money. He should help me. I am tired. Things are not working. Tell him to help me," she said.
In the now-viral video of his performance, KWAM 1 did not directly address the paternity claim or respond specifically to Eleana's allegations. Instead, while performing on stage, he told members of the audience, "On your phone, turn on Bluetooth. Go to TikTok, then go to Facebook." He then sang, "Anybody who has an unnecessary pregnancy is just like a giveaway." As the crowd reacted, he added, "These children, don't kill me. Go and say it on TikTok." The Fuji icon's remark in Yoruba, "To ba loyunkoyun, sara ni," has been interpreted as a dismissive suggestion that any unplanned pregnancy involving him is the woman's responsibility and hers to deal with.
The singer's response has sparked a torrent of mixed reactions on social media, with some netizens mocking Eleana while others slammed KWAM 1 for what they described as an act of irresponsibility. Many commentators have called for a DNA test to resolve the matter, while others have defended the musician, arguing that women should be more selective about who they have children with.
