The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, presented the letter of appointment to Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola during a brief ceremony held at his office in the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. In his remarks, Mr. Agoro expressed confidence in her ability to provide purposeful leadership and further strengthen the Office of the State Auditor-General.

Expressing confidence in her ability to lead the office, the Management and Staff of the Office of the State Auditor-General congratulated Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola on her well-deserved nomination and expressed confidence in her ability to provide visionary leadership that will further strengthen accountability, transparency, and excellence in public sector auditing across Lagos State. The office also appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu for his confidence in her capacity to lead the Office and advance the State's commitment to good governance and prudent management of public resources.

The nomination follows a comprehensive screening process conducted by the Lagos State Civil Service Commission. In June 2026, the Commission concluded the executive assessment and screening exercise for candidates seeking appointment as the State Auditor-General, evaluating candidates on technical competence, leadership ability, strategic thinking, integrity, decision-making skills and professional experience. The process was conducted in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and the Lagos State Audit Law.

If confirmed by the Lagos State House of Assembly, Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola will assume responsibility for overseeing the auditing of government accounts, promoting fiscal accountability, and ensuring transparency in the management of public funds across the state. She brings over three decades of cognate experience in Accounting and Taxation to the role, having served in various capacities within the state public service.
