The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced that former Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, SAN, will deliver the President's Dinner Talk at the 66th Annual General Conference (AGC), one of the flagship events of the legal profession's largest gathering in Africa. The conference, themed "Beyond Limits," is scheduled to hold from August 21 to 28, 2026, at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and is expected to attract thousands of legal practitioners, judges, policymakers, business leaders, and thought leaders from across Nigeria and beyond.
Professor Osinbajo, one of Nigeria's most respected legal minds and public intellectuals, will also feature as a speaker at one of the conference's plenary sessions, where he will share his perspectives on leadership, governance, the legal profession, and Nigeria's future. His participation further underscores the exceptional quality of speakers assembled for the 2026 Conference and reinforces the NBA's commitment to providing delegates with a truly world-class experience, according to a statement issued by the Chairman of the NBA AGC 2026 Planning Committee, Abdul Muhammed Rafindadi, SAN.
The announcement comes just days after the NBA confirmed that former Liberian President George Manneh Weah, the only African footballer to win the Ballon d'Or, will deliver the keynote address at the conference. Weah, who served as Liberia's president from 2018 to 2024, brings a unique blend of experience in sports, governance, and humanitarian service to the event. The conference will bring together leaders of the Bench and Bar, senior public officials, business executives and distinguished guests for an evening of fellowship and intellectual engagement.
Professor Osinbajo, who served as Nigeria's Vice President from 2015 to 2023, is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a former Attorney-General of Lagos State. He is widely regarded as one of the country's most accomplished legal scholars and has delivered keynote addresses at previous NBA conferences, including the 2017 AGC where he spoke as Acting President. His return to the NBA stage is expected to draw significant attention, as he remains one of the most influential voices on governance and constitutionalism in Nigeria.
The 66th NBA Annual General Conference, themed "Beyond Limits," is expected to be one of the largest in the association's history, with early registration already recording over 12,000 delegates. The conference programme will feature high-level plenary sessions, networking opportunities, and a focus on transformative justice, with an expanded programme and world-class speakers. The choice of Port Harcourt as host city reflects the NBA's commitment to national inclusion and balance, according to NBA President Afam Osigwe, SAN.
The conference will also feature the Shehu of Borno as Royal Father of the Day, and a host of other distinguished speakers and panellists. With the countdown to the conference now in its final days, legal professionals across the nation are locking in their attendance for what promises to be the most ambitious conference in the NBA's history.
