The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has commissioned a new operational outpost in Yelwa Quarters, Dala Local Government Area of the state, as part of efforts to strengthen security presence and enhance effective policing and protection of lives and property within the community. The development was announced in a statement issued on Thursday, August 6, 2026, by the command's Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, on behalf of the State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama.

Commissioning the facility, Agalama said the establishment of the outpost was a strategic step "towards bringing security services closer to the people of this area and ensuring prompt response to emerging security challenges." He emphasised the importance of community participation and inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity, urging residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and maintaining peace. The commandant commended the local government council and the people of Yelwa for their support and cooperation, stressing that security is a collective responsibility that requires the commitment of government, security agencies, traditional institutions and the general public.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Dala Local Government Area, Suraj Imam, pledged the council's continued support to the NSCDC and other security agencies operating within the area, as he pledged to assist security agencies in addressing security challenges and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents. "The local government council will continue to support security agencies to enable them to discharge their duties effectively for the safety of our people," he assured. Imam described the commissioning of the outpost as a welcome development that would further strengthen security operations and improve the confidence of residents in the area.

The event was attended by senior security officials, including the NSCDC Area 'C' Commander, Corps Divisional Officers from Gwale and Kano Municipal, the Dala Divisional Police Officer, personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service, members of the Neighbourhood Security Outfit and Hisbah, alongside representatives of various community-based security groups. The new outpost is expected to enhance the Corps' operational presence, improve response to security challenges, and support effective policing within the community, while promoting peace and public safety across the area.
