At least six Nigerian soldiers have reportedly been killed in a fresh attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Bitta, a community in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, security sources have confirmed. The attack occurred on the evening of Thursday, August 6, 2026, according to SaharaReporters, which gathered information from multiple security sources.
The insurgents launched an assault on troops stationed in the area, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. A security source told SaharaReporters that six soldiers were feared killed in the attack. "Six men down in Bitta, North-East," the source said.
