The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has opened a fresh investigation into the former Chairman of Rogo Local Government Area, Yahuza Musa, over allegations that he illegally administered Pentazocine injections to a 63-year-old woman without her consent. The task force disclosed this in a statement on Monday, August 25, 2026, by its Secretary, Dr Ibrahim Garba Muhd. The latest complaint was filed by the woman's daughter, who alleged that Musa repeatedly injected her mother with the controlled substance, leading to addiction and significant harm.
The investigation comes on the heels of an earlier case involving a 25-year-old man who accused Musa of supplying him with Pentazocine for over two years. The young man, who suffered severe damage to his hands from prolonged drug use, reportedly spent about N6 million on the injections in the first six months of 2026 alone. According to the task force, the victim's drug use began after he took a legitimate prescription from Dala Orthopedic Hospital to an unregistered clinic allegedly operated by Musa, whose licence had been revoked. Despite the victim's pleas for help, Musa allegedly continued supplying the drug.
The task force stated that after verifying parts of the man's account, operatives conducted an undercover transaction that led to Musa's arrest. The new complaint involving the 63-year-old woman is now being investigated alongside the ongoing court case. The woman's daughter told investigators that her mother repeatedly received injections from Musa without any explanation of the treatment or informed consent, and that the injections led to addiction and serious harm.
Task Force Chairman Muhuyi Magaji condemned the allegations, describing them as a "pathetic and inhuman attitude". In a stern warning, he declared, "Irrespective of your political, religious or cultural affiliation, and irrespective of your status in society, if you are involved in destroying our youth and sabotaging the economy of Kano, we will hunt you, arrest you and prosecute you without fear or favour". Magaji emphasised that the crackdown aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's "Kano First" agenda and urged residents to continue providing useful information to the authorities.
The task force has maintained zero tolerance for illegal drug distribution, particularly by unlicensed clinics and individuals who abuse positions of trust. It continues to work with rehabilitation and reformatory centres to support victims, while employing undercover operations, surveillance and prosecution to dismantle drug networks. Residents with information about the illegal sale or distribution of controlled drugs have been urged to report through official channels to prevent further harm.
The allegations against the former council chairman have sparked outrage, with many calling for swift justice as the case proceeds in court. The task force has assured the public that the investigation will be thorough and transparent.
