A tragic incident has left the community of Barkeji in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State in mourning after a man killed his own brother following a disagreement over the type of onions to buy. The victim, Mallam Shehu, was killed by his brother, Hadi, on Wednesday afternoon, September 2, 2026, after an argument over onion varieties escalated into deadly violence.

Eyewitnesses told Daily Post that the two brothers had been arguing over which type of onions to purchase. The disagreement quickly escalated, and in a moment of rage, Hadi attacked his brother, killing him. The shocking incident has left the community in disbelief, as residents struggle to comprehend how a dispute over something as ordinary as onions could lead to the loss of a life.

Photos circulating on social media showed the funeral of the deceased, Mallam Shehu, with mourners gathered to bid him farewell. The images capture the somber mood of the community as they laid to rest a man whose life was cut short by a brother's rage.

The incident has sparked conversations about the rising cases of violence over trivial disputes in communities across Nigeria.
