The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a TikTok content creator, Ukasha Yahaya, popularly known as UK International, over videos in which he was seen hugging, carrying and bathing with women. The board's Deputy Commander General, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrest on Thursday, September 17, 2026, saying Yahaya was apprehended after the Hisbah received intelligence that he had entered Kano. Aminuddeen said the 27-year-old was being detained while investigations into the videos continued.
Yahaya, who is from Gusau, Zamfara State, but resides in Abuja, reportedly admitted during interrogation that he could not remember the number of videos he had produced featuring women. Some of the videos showed him dancing with, hugging or carrying women, while others depicted swimming and bathing scenes. The TikToker said some of his videos had attracted between one million and three million views. When asked how he sourced the women who appeared in his videos, Yahaya said they approached him because of his work as a content creator.
Asked whether he could involve his own sisters in such videos, he said all of them were married and that his mother and several others had repeatedly cautioned him against producing such content. He added that he was already considering quitting the genre as he prepares for marriage. Yahaya apologised for his actions and promised not to repeat them. His TikTok account, UK INTERNATIONAL, has more than 262,000 followers and over 2.4 million likes.
Aminuddeen said Yahaya would be charged in court after the completion of investigations. He also warned youths against using TikTok to produce content that violates what the Hisbah considers acceptable moral and religious standards. The arrest is the latest in a series of enforcement actions by the Kano Hisbah Board against social media content creators whose posts it deems obscene or contrary to Islamic norms. The board has previously prosecuted TikTokers over videos showing intimate contact, and in some cases courts have ordered defendants to marry or face punishment.
The Hisbah operates under Kano State law and has the mandate to enforce sharia-compliant morality in public life. Its policing of social media content has generated debate in Nigeria, with critics arguing that it oversteps its bounds and infringes on freedom of expression, while supporters say it protects public morality and religious values in a state that operates a parallel legal system. For Yahaya, the videos that earned him millions of views and hundreds of thousands of followers have now landed him in custody. The Hisbah says he will face prosecution once its investigation is concluded.
