The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man identified as Abdulrazak Sale Kundang, also known as “Abba Sale Police,” who it described as the principal suspect in the alleged murder of a 46-year-old man in Karofin Madaki, Bauchi metropolis.
The suspect was arrested on Monday, October 5, 2026, exactly three months after the incident, following information provided by a member of the public, according to the police.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu.
Police said the incident occurred on July 5, 2026, at about 9:30am, when Rilwanu Dauda, 46, of Karofi, was allegedly attacked by Kundang and members of his gang.
The victim was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor at about 11am that same day, according to the police.
Following the incident, the police said they commenced efforts to locate the fleeing suspects and placed them on their watchlist.
The Command said the suspects had also previously been linked to another politically motivated murder in the same area before disappearing, although the latest police statement did not provide further details about that earlier case.
The breakthrough reportedly came after operatives attached to the A Division, Township, received what the Command described as credible intelligence from a Good Samaritan.
Acting on the information, the officers moved in and arrested Kundang on October 5, three months after the death of Dauda.
Police said efforts were continuing to locate and arrest the other suspects allegedly connected to the case, who remain at large.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in the arrest and directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated before the suspect is charged to court.
The Commissioner also warned that criminals would have no hiding place in Bauchi State.
The arrest marks a development in the investigation into Dauda’s death, but the allegations against Kundang have not been established by a court. He remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty through due process.
