The Commander-General of the Katsina State Hisbah Board, Dr Aminu Usman, popularly known as Abu Ammar, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Usman announced his resignation in a letter dated October 5, 2026, addressed to the Secretary to the Katsina State Government at the Governor’s Office, State Secretariat Complex, Katsina.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported the resignation on Tuesday, October 6.
The former Hisbah commander did not disclose any reason for his decision to leave the position.
In the resignation letter, however, Usman expressed gratitude to Governor Dikko Umar Radda for the confidence, trust and opportunity given to him to serve in the state.
He described his tenure as an honour and privilege and said he was grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the development, peace, security and moral well-being of Katsina State.
Usman also appreciated the governor for his leadership, guidance and support during his time in office.
He prayed for continued guidance and blessings for Governor Radda, as well as wisdom and good health for the governor to continue serving the people of Katsina State.
The resignation takes effect immediately, although no successor was initially announced in the NAN report.
However, a separate report by Blueprint Hausa published on Tuesday said the Katsina State Government had appointed Muhammad Saifuddeen Yakubu Musa as the new Commander-General of the Hisbah Board following Usman’s resignation.
Usman had served as the Katsina Hisbah Commander-General under the administration of Governor Radda. In April 2026, he was identified by the state government as Chairman of the Hisbah Board during the signing of an executive order establishing a task force to tackle miscreant and thuggery activities in the state.
His resignation comes amid the Hisbah Board’s continuing involvement in matters relating to social conduct, family disputes, moral guidance and public order in Katsina.
The reason for his departure remains undisclosed.
