The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested a 20-year-old man identified as Jamilu Inusa over alleged vandalism of electricity infrastructure in Dambatta Local Government Area of the state.

The State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, disclosed the arrest on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, while briefing journalists in Kano on the command’s recent operations.

According to the NSCDC, Inusa was arrested by operatives of the Dambatta Division on October 2 following credible intelligence concerning the alleged movement and concealment of vandalised electricity cables.

The command said further investigation led its operatives to a compound in Dambatta town, where four bags containing aluminium electricity conductor cables were recovered.

The NSCDC said the materials were allegedly linked to the suspected vandalism of electricity infrastructure, while the vehicle allegedly used to convey the items was also intercepted during the operation.

Hassan-Agalama described the vandalism and theft of critical national infrastructure, particularly electricity installations, as a serious threat to public safety and economic development.

He said the command would continue to strengthen efforts to protect critical infrastructure across Kano State and prevent criminal activities targeting electricity installations.

The commandant also disclosed that two other suspects allegedly connected to the incident were still being sought.

He assured that the arrested suspect would face appropriate legal action after the conclusion of investigations.

The NSCDC appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing the vandalism of critical national assets.

The Corps has a statutory responsibility to protect critical national infrastructure, including power installations, and has continued to conduct operations against suspected vandalism of electricity facilities across the country.

The allegation against Inusa has not been established by a court, and he remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty through due legal process.
