Former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has apologised to actress Regina Daniels, her mother Rita Daniels, Senator Ned Nwoko and several colleagues over controversial remarks he made during the dispute surrounding Regina’s marriage.
Rollas issued the apology on Thursday, October 8, 2026, saying he had reflected on his comments and regretted the timing, platform and manner in which he addressed the matter.
He said he had spoken publicly at the time because he believed strongly in the issues he raised and felt compelled to respond after his name was repeatedly mentioned in the controversy.
However, Rollas acknowledged that the matter involved a family going through a deeply personal and difficult period and said he should have handled the situation differently.
According to him, a recent encounter with Rita Daniels, during which people attempted to broker peace between them, also prompted him to reconsider his earlier statements.
Rollas subsequently apologised to Rita Daniels and the Daniels family, Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko and his family, as well as members of the AGN Board of Trustees and colleagues whose names he mentioned during the controversy.
Among those he named were Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko and Sanni Danji.
The former AGN president said he could not determine whether those affected would forgive him, noting that accepting his apology was ultimately their decision.
He added that the experience had taught him that being convinced about an issue was not enough if the manner of addressing it was inappropriate.
Rollas said he still held his convictions on some of the issues he had raised but accepted responsibility for his actions and timing.
“I have reflected. And today, I say sincerely: I am sorry,” he said.
The controversy dates back to November 2025, when Rollas publicly commented on the marital dispute involving Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko after saying that his name had been dragged into the matter. Regina subsequently criticised his remarks and questioned his handling of the situation.
In his latest statement, Rollas said he now chooses “peace, reconciliation, dignity and respect” as he moves forward.
