An aide to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, Ahmad Tijjani Musa, popularly known as ATM Jega, has threatened to prevent former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami from entering the state over alleged vandalism of political billboards.

Jega, the governor’s Special Adviser on Cemetery Affairs, issued the warning while reacting to allegations that some individuals had removed All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign billboards in parts of Kebbi State.

According to a report published on Friday, October 9, 2026, Jega urged Malami, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Kebbi, to caution individuals he described as his supporters against further destruction of the billboards.

“We will prevent Abubakar Malami from entering Kebbi State if he does not stop his boys from tearing down our billboards,” Jega was quoted as saying.

He warned that he would take further action if the alleged vandalism continued.

Malami, who served as Nigeria’s Attorney-General and Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2023, is seeking to challenge the incumbent administration in the 2027 governorship election under the ADC.

The development comes amid growing political activity in Kebbi ahead of the 2027 elections, with the APC-led state government and opposition figures exchanging criticisms over governance and campaign promises.

The allegation of billboard vandalism has not, in the reports reviewed, been independently established, and no response from Malami addressing Jega’s threat was included in the report.
