The Bauchi State Police Command has reportedly arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Monday Dauda, over the alleged vandalism of an electricity transformer belonging to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) in Bogoro Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect was reportedly arrested at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, by police operatives attached to the Bogoro Divisional Headquarters during a routine patrol.

The arrest comes amid ongoing concerns over the vandalism of electricity infrastructure, which can disrupt power supply to communities and impose additional repair costs on electricity distribution companies.

In May 2025, an Upper Sharia Court in Toro, Bauchi State, sentenced a man identified as Julabib Muhammad to two years’ imprisonment for destroying a JED transformer.

However, details surrounding the latest incident, including the extent of the alleged damage, whether any items were recovered and the next steps in the investigation, were not independently confirmed in the reports available.

The suspect remains an alleged offender unless and until the allegation is established through the appropriate legal process.
