A prominent Idoma politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Ejeh Udeh, has been killed by unidentified gunmen. The incident occurred around midnight on Monday at his residence in Ugboju, Otukpo Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants, who arrived on motorcycles, laid in wait for Udeh and opened fire shortly after he entered his compound. He was surrounded and shot at close range, leaving no chance of survival.

Confirming the killing, Otukpo Local Government Chairman, Maxwell Ejeh, described the incident as a devastating blow to the community, noting that Udeh was a respected figure, community leader, and opinion moulder within the APC. He stressed that the reasons for the attack remain unclear but emphasized that the killers were determined, having trailed the deceased to his home to carry out the act.

The chairman said he visited the scene alongside the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security chiefs, who assured that investigations were underway and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice.
