The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully conducted its local government congresses across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kebbi State, marking a decisive step in strengthening its grassroots structure ahead of future political contests.
In Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, the exercise drew 277 accredited delegates from all 15 wards, who turned out in large numbers to participate in what party leaders described as a peaceful and transparent process.
At the conclusion of the election, Faruk Maiturare emerged as the new PDP Chairman for Birnin Kebbi Local Government, while Abubakar Geda was elected as the National Delegate representing the local council.
Party members at the venue expressed delight over the orderly conduct of the congress, describing it as a reflection of renewed unity and commitment among stakeholders in the state chapter.
Prominent PDP figures were also in attendance to observe the proceedings, including Sokoto State PDP Chairman, Bello Goranyo, who commended the delegates for their discipline and the local leadership for the smooth organization of the event.
Delivering a goodwill message, PDP leader in Kebbi State and the party’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Gen. Aminu Bande (rtd), praised the delegates for their good conduct and urged members to continue working in harmony. He expressed appreciation to the people of Kebbi State for their consistent support, stressing that the PDP remains “the biggest party in Africa.”
Bande further advised party members to remain law-abiding and focused on building a stronger, more united platform capable of regaining power both at the state and national levels.
The exercise was monitored by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as security agencies, ensuring credibility and transparency throughout the process.
