Ondo Governor Celebrates Supreme Court Win, Pledges Fair Governance

Akure, September 19, 2025 – Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has hailed the judiciary as the foundation of a democratic society, stressing that fairness and justice are essential for stability and development.

Speaking to supporters at Democracy Park in Akure after his Supreme Court victory, Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked God, the people of Ondo State, and all who supported him throughout the electoral and legal process. He praised his legal team for their dedication and commended the judiciary for delivering an impartial judgment.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also acknowledged the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that good governance fosters equity and fairness across the nation. “This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to every citizen of Ondo State,” he said, expressing appreciation for the trust and support of the electorate.

In separate remarks, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde of the Niger Delta Development Commission described the outcome as a win for the people, affirming that citizens’ votes had been meaningful. Former Deputy Governor Alhaji Abdulazeez Oluboyo praised the Governor for winning across all local government areas, highlighting expectations for effective leadership and tangible improvements in the state. Former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Omowumi Ohwovoriole, welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision as a conclusion to the election dispute and expressed confidence in the Governor’s ability to deliver development, peace, and stability.

The event attracted a wide range of dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, First Lady Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, Secretary to the State Government Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, Chief of Staff Prince Segun Omojuwa, members of the State Executive Council, and party stalwarts from across the state.

Governor Aiyedatiwa’s victory at the Supreme Court comes after a closely contested election and has been widely regarded as a reaffirmation of democratic principles in Ondo State. He has pledged to focus on inclusive governance and the welfare of all residents.
