The Delta State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to infrastructural development following an extensive inspection of ongoing projects across the state by Engr. Dr. Goodnews Agbi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring.

The monitoring exercise, conducted on Wednesday, covered major road projects in Asaba, Ibusa, Isoko, and Orogun, with a mix of commendations and concerns raised over the pace of work.

The team began at the Nnebisi–FMC–Abraka road in Asaba, where Engr. Agbi expressed satisfaction with the quality of work. The road is scheduled for completion by October/November 2025, a timeline that will ease movement during the busy Christmas season.

In Ibusa, contractors were praised for progress on the dual-side drainage systems, which are almost complete. The road is expected to be tarred shortly, marking another milestone in the state’s push to address flooding and improve accessibility.

However, at the Isoko axis — covering Ofagbe, Elu, Uvrede, and Obe — the inspection team expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work, citing inadequate equipment and weak supervision.

Local communities have voiced frustration over the delays, prompting directives from the monitoring team for contractors to scale up work immediately, especially with the onset of the dry season which is crucial for construction.

At the Emevor–Orogun Road Phase 2, the team observed significant progress, with completion projected for November 2025. Phase 1 of the project was already commissioned earlier this year, providing relief to residents and boosting connectivity in the area.

The inspection exercise highlighted Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s ambition to position Delta State as a construction hub, with active projects recorded in virtually every community.

While some areas require corrective measures and tighter supervision, most projects are advancing steadily, winning the appreciation of host communities who see the works as vital to economic growth and social development.

Engr. Agbi praised the Governor’s dedication, noting that the ongoing projects reflect a long-term vision to connect Delta’s communities, enhance mobility, and drive inclusive development across the state.
