The Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (PS-DMCMA) has signed a strategic partnership with the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN), Plateau State Office, aimed at improving access to quality medications and eliminating counterfeit and substandard drugs across the state.

The agreement was formalized during a courtesy visit by the PCN delegation, led by Acting State Officer Pharm. Joshua S. Manklik, along with Pharm. Godwin S. Nimyel, to PS-DMCMA’s pharma-grade warehouse and headquarters on Murtala Mohammed Way, Jos. The agency’s Director-General, Pharm. Kim Jerry Bot, described the collaboration as a milestone in strengthening Plateau State’s drug distribution system and improving public health outcomes.

“This partnership marks a major step forward in healthcare delivery for Plateau State,” Pharm. Kim said. “By working closely with the PCN, we will enhance regulation, improve our drug distribution chain, and ensure residents have uninterrupted access to quality and authentic medications.”

The partnership aligns with the vision of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who prioritizes the health and well-being of the state’s citizens. Pharm. Kim added, “A healthy Plateau is central to His Excellency’s policy thrust, and this collaboration is one of many steps toward achieving that vision.”

Under the agreement, PS-DMCMA and PCN will jointly regulate the drug distribution chain, ensuring all healthcare facilities receive supplies only from approved and certified sources. The initiative also includes measures to combat counterfeit drugs, strengthen oversight mechanisms, and enhance product authentication to boost public confidence.

Pharm. Joshua S. Manklik reaffirmed PCN’s commitment to providing regulatory expertise and technical support, describing the collaboration as a sustainable model for effective drug regulation that could be replicated nationwide.

Stone Reporters News gathered that the partnership is expected to improve patient safety, ensure essential drugs are readily available, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen public trust in Plateau State’s healthcare system.
