The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a significant increase in the fees for obtaining Nigerian Standard Passports, effective from September 1, 2025.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the new fee structure applies only to applications submitted within Nigeria. Under the revised fees, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost N100,000, while a 64-page passport with ten-year validity will be N200,000.

The statement clarified that passport fees for Nigerians living abroad remain unchanged, at $150 for the 32-page five-year passport and $230 for the 64-page ten-year passport.

The NIS emphasized that the adjustments aim to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring continued accessibility for citizens. The agency urged applicants to plan accordingly to avoid delays during the transition period.
