The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) recently convened a high-level roundtable aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability at the state and local government levels through strategic communications. The event, attended by all State Commissioners of Information, featured the opening address by a Special Guest of Honour who commended the ICPC for its creative approach in engaging key stakeholders across Nigeria.

Highlighting the importance of the initiative, the Guest of Honour noted that the Commissioners play a critical role in distilling and cascading information to the grassroots, ensuring that government policies reach every stratum of society. He emphasized that transparency and accountability are pillars of democracy, central to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, and praised the government for strengthening anti-corruption institutions like the ICPC and EFCC to operate independently and professionally.

The address further underscored the President’s commitment to judicial reforms aimed at expediting corruption trials and ensuring justice is served without unnecessary delay. Participants were urged to embrace the opportunities under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to promote economic inclusion, diversification, and steady development across the nation.

The roundtable marks a significant step in forging a robust partnership between federal anti-corruption agencies and state-level actors, reinforcing Nigeria’s fight against corruption while enhancing public communication strategies.
