President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today, September 4, depart Abuja for a working vacation in Europe as part of his 2025 annual leave.
According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President will spend 10 working days between France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria.
The trip, described as a “working vacation,” comes amid growing debates over governance and economic challenges at home. While the Presidency has emphasized that the President remains in touch with state matters during such trips, critics often express concern about the timing of foreign vacations by Nigerian leaders, especially when pressing issues demand urgent attention.
Observers note that presidential travels abroad have frequently raised questions about transparency, cost implications, and the impact of long absences on governance. Still, officials maintain that such visits allow the President to rest while engaging in informal consultations with international partners.
President Tinubu is expected back in the country immediately after the conclusion of his 10-day leave.
