Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on security agencies to uphold neutrality and professionalism, emphasizing that the state, as the home of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, must not become a political battleground.

The appeal came during the decoration ceremony of his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ahmed Bio Abdulraman, at the Government House in Osogbo. The event was attended by top security officials, including the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Gotan; the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Igbalawole Sotiyo; and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Mr. Leye Adegboyega.

Governor Adeleke commended the Nigeria Police Force for its consistent professionalism, praising both the Inspector General of Police and the Osun Command for discipline and adherence to due process. He particularly lauded Commissioner Gotan for leadership that has fostered peace and order across the state.

Highlighting the need for neutrality, Adeleke stressed that law enforcement must remain impartial in political activities. “We should continue to maintain a level playing field. This is the home state of Mr. President. Mr. President belongs to all of us. Osun should not be turned into a battleground,” he said.

Turning to the celebrant, the Governor described DSP Abdulraman as an exemplary officer whose loyalty and discipline reflect the values of the Nigeria Police. He expressed pride in the officer’s promotion, emphasizing that the Force is a vital institution for national growth and stability.

In his remarks, Commissioner of Police Gotan congratulated DSP Abdulraman, noting that promotions come with added responsibilities. He reaffirmed the Osun Command’s commitment to fairness, human rights, and the rule of law, assuring the Governor of their readiness to sustain peace in the state. Gotan also encouraged officers to emulate the hard work and dedication of DSP Abdulraman.

The ceremony underscored the ongoing partnership between the state government and security agencies, highlighting efforts to maintain public safety while ensuring impartiality during politically sensitive periods.
