Kaduna State has been moved from “Red” to “Amber” on the United Kingdom’s travel advisory, allowing British citizens to travel freely to the state. The announcement was made by Ms. Cynthia Rowe, Development Director of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), during the signing of a new Mutual Accountability Framework (KaMAF) with the Kaduna State Government.
Ms. Rowe noted that Kaduna State had been on the “Red” list since 2022 but was upgraded due to the state government’s sustained efforts to address security challenges. She described the move as a strong testament to the impact of Kaduna’s peace and security initiatives, and a clear signal to investors that the state is safe for business.
The signing of the new KaMAF marks a major milestone in strengthening collaboration between the Kaduna State Government and the FCDO to consolidate achievements in governance, health, education, and agriculture. Governor Senator Uba Sani, CON, signed the agreement on behalf of the state, while Ms. Rowe signed on behalf of the FCDO.
Under the partnership, tangible progress has already been made, including reductions in maternal and child mortality, expansion of healthcare access, improvement of school infrastructure and teacher training, and significant agricultural investments, with over 10% of the 2025 budget allocated to crop and livestock productivity. Reforms such as the Local Government Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (LFTAS) Programme, Issue-Based Initiatives, and Community Development Charters have also strengthened citizen engagement, institutional capacity, and rural economic transformation.
Governor Sani expressed gratitude to the FCDO for their ongoing partnership and confidence that the implementation of the new KaMAF will further accelerate good governance, foster inclusive development, and consolidate Kaduna State’s reputation as a model of resilience, equity, and shared prosperity.
