President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Catholic Church in Nigeria for its role as a moral compass and reliable partner in advancing national development.
The commendation was delivered on the President’s behalf by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Dr. George Akume, during the opening of the 2nd Plenary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) held in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
In his remarks, President Tinubu acknowledged the Church’s long-standing contributions to education, healthcare, and social development, noting that its influence continues to strengthen national values and unity. He urged religious leaders to remain steadfast in guiding the moral direction of society while fostering peace, tolerance, and progress.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference, which brings together bishops from across the country, serves as a key platform for discussing the role of the Church in addressing pressing national issues.
