
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released fresh data on the ongoing nationwide voter registration exercise, highlighting significant participation across both online and in-person platforms.
As of Sunday, September 14, 2025, a total of 4,445,505 Nigerians had pre-registered online since the commencement of the exercise on August 18. Of this number, 2,141,294 (48.17%) were male, while 2,304,211 (51.83%) were female. Young Nigerians dominated the figures, with 2,924,643 (65.79%) between the ages of 18 and 34, and 1,112,344 (25.02%) identified as students.
In terms of completed registrations, including both online pre-registrations and physical in-person registrations as of Friday, September 12, 2025, a total of 509,929 voters were fully registered. Of these, 229,758 (45.06%) were male and 280,171 (54.94%) were female. Young people aged 18 to 34 comprised 378,132 (74.15%) of registrants, with students making up 196,529 (38.54%). Detailed state-by-state breakdowns by gender, age, occupation, and disability status are available on INEC’s official platforms for public access.
In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), INEC confirmed that the online pre-registration ended on Monday, September 15, 2025. Physical registration will continue at designated venues for two weeks before moving to all 62 wards in the FCT from September 29 to October 8, 2025. Specific center addresses have been published on the commission’s official platforms.
