The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained fight against crime and criminality across the state. On 8 September 2025, at about 7:50 a.m., operatives attached to Kafin Hausa Division arrested three suspected motor vehicle thieves after they were involved in a lone accident with a stolen vehicle at Sabon Sara village, Kafin Hausa LGA.
The suspects, who initially fled the scene, were promptly apprehended by vigilant police operatives. They were later identified as Kabiru Musa, 35, of Rimin Kebe Quarters in Kano State; Umar Ali, 25, of Haye Quarters in Kano State; and Sabiu Bashir, 25, of Tokarawa Village in Kano State. Their arrest followed an earlier report by one Hussaini Manager, who had on 7 September 2025 complained that his blue Golf saloon vehicle with registration number MGA 108 JG was stolen at Agura Motor Park in Kafin Hausa LGA.
Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the suspects, who claimed to be Lance Corporal Kabiru Musa of the 102 Guard Brigade, FCT Abuja, was in fact an impostor. Further discreet investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse, exposed him as a fake soldier. Upon his arrest, several incriminating items linked to fraudulent activities were found in his possession, including multiple ATM cards and driver’s licenses.
The suspects have since been charged to court following the completion of discreet investigation. The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the operatives of Kafin Hausa Division for their professionalism and resilience, reiterating the Command’s unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminals and ensure the safety and security of lives and property. He further called on residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
